Suunto Zoop Novo Review
SUUNTO ZOOP NOVO Review
The Suunto Zoop has become an "iconic" dive computer. Inexpensive, easy to use, and extremely durable.
The Zoop is many divers first computer. It is constructed in a thick plastic case and comes with a strong clear plastic screen guard. The screen can be lit with the push of a button, or it can be illuminated by "charging" the screen with a torch. A simple 4 button interface can be used to program nitrox usage. An audible ascent alarm is included to help warn of rapid ascent.
The computer also logs your dives. The logs can be transferred from the Zoop to a computer using the appropriate cable connection.
What We Liked
- Durable construction
- Great for beginners
- Simple interface
- Can be used with nitrox
What We Disliked
- Larger form factor can be cumbersome
- Gas switching mid dive not possible
The Zoop is a great companion for the beginner or casual diver. It works as soon as you hop in the water and has a simple 4 button interface. The tough construction will easily handle a great deal of abuse; most Zoops will continue functioning long after a diver has decided to replace it. It may not carry into professional or tec use, but it is phenomenal value for the recreational diver.
